Commercial vehicle and DAF dealership group, Motus Commercials, has enjoyed an award-winning 2020, in recognition of their apprenticeship scheme.

Part of Motus Group UK, Motus Commercials is the largest DAF dealer group in the UK with 30 locations across the country, providing a complete package for truck operators including sales, service and parts. Launched in the 1950’s, the Motus Commercials Apprenticeship Scheme currently has 104 apprentices and is open to applicants aged 16 and over, across both technical and administrative business roles.

Despite the unprecedented challenges of Covid-19, Motus Commercials has received a multitude of awards throughout 2020 for their Apprentice Programme. Awards received include the Princess Royal Training Award 2020, Rate My Apprenticeship Top 100 Employers, National Apprenticeship Service Top 100 Employers, East Midlands Regional Winner, as well as being a shortlisted Motor Transport Awards Apprenticeship of the Year finalist.

The prestigious Princess Royal Training Award 2020 is awarded in recognition of the impactful training programme Motus Commercials has provided for its apprentices, and the range and quality of training that exists. The accolade is awarded by HRH The Princess Royal, President of City & Guilds Group.

Motus Commercials was also named on the Top 100 apprenticeship employers ranking, showcasing the country’s outstanding apprenticeship employers – also winning Regional Large Employer of the Year East Midlands. Peter Mucklow, Director, Apprenticeships, Education and Skills Funding Agency commented, “Top 100 apprenticeship employer rankings rightly give recognition and thanks to those who have shown, and continue to show, huge commitment to apprenticeships.”

Sarah Bardens, National Apprenticeship Manager at Motus Commercials, explained: “We are proud to have achieved a 55% growth in the number of recruits on the scheme in the last three years and a 97% retention rate. These awards show our commitment to developing young individuals for their future careers. Not only that, but their satisfaction with the training they have received has been recognised within their reviews and honest feedback, contributing to our awards this year.”

In addition to a successful year winning external awards, Motus Commercials also host their own Apprentice of the Year competition, designed to recognise the outstanding achievements of apprentices throughout their organisation.

Bardens concluded: “We continue to invest heavily in our apprentices and their long-term career goals. We are passionate about delivering outstanding training and personal mentoring, as well as opportunities to learn and engage with other apprentices across the DAF dealer network. We are honoured to have received such a high number of awards in 2020, especially during this extraordinary year.”
